U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 14th (local time), a day before the US-Russia summit, that if the meeting is successful, a summit including the Ukrainian president could also be held.

In an interview with Fox News that day, President Trump said about his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, "This meeting is for setting up the next meeting," adding, "The second meeting will be very important because it will be a meeting to reach an agreement." Here, the second meeting is likely to be a trilateral summit involving not only the leaders of the United States and Russia but also Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, or possibly a multilateral meeting including European leaders. When asked where the next meeting would take place, he answered, "Probably Alaska."

President Trump mentioned that in such a trilateral summit, there could be give-and-take involving borders and territory as part of a ceasefire or peace agreement regarding the war in Ukraine.
