According to the BBC on the 15th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin began the U.S.-Russia summit today, which is expected to be a major turning point in the Ukraine war.

The two leaders met at 11:30 a.m. (local time) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, United States.

Prior to the meeting, both leaders arrived at the venue using their respective private aircraft.

The meeting was originally scheduled to proceed as a one-on-one meeting followed by a luncheon and expanded meeting with aides joining, but the format was changed to a 3-on-3 meeting.

According to White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff joined the 3-on-3 meeting on the U.S. side.

During the subsequent luncheon and expanded meeting, additional participants include Secretary of the Treasury Scott Besant, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

This summit marks the first meeting between the U.S. and Russian leaders since the start of Trump’s second administration. The world is closely watching for a possible ceasefire agreement regarding the Ukraine war, which has lasted three years and six months.
