SBI Holdings acquires stake in CoinPost…Scheduled to be incorporated as a subsidiary on October 1

SBI Holdings is acquiring a stake in the Japanese virtual asset (cryptocurrency) media company CoinPost (CoinPost).

On the 22nd, SBI Holdings announced via its official website that it had signed a stock transfer agreement with some existing shareholders of CoinPost, and plans to acquire a majority stake and make CoinPost its consolidated subsidiary within the year. The acquisition process is scheduled to be completed on October 1.

CoinPost operates the Japanese virtual asset and Web3-specialized media 'CoinPost' and organizes the Web3 conference 'WebX.' Recently, it has expanded its service area through an information partnership with Yahoo Finance.

On the purpose of this acquisition, SBI stated, "Digital assets will play a key role across the financial industry," and explained their goal to strengthen an ecosystem linking media and finance, centered on their subsidiary SBI Neo Media Holdings.

Yoshitaka Kitao, the chairman of SBI Holdings, commented, "We will accelerate the realization of a Web3 society based on CoinPost's information infrastructure."

Takahito Kagami, representative of CoinPost, also emphasized, "While maintaining independence and fairness as a media company, we will expand into a global financial information platform."

After the acquisition, SBI and CoinPost plan to expand the digital asset investment environment through strengthening linked services with SBI Securities, research collaboration with HashHub, regular hosting of the WebX conference, and joint event initiatives.
