[Exclusive] Lee Chan-jin, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, to meet with virtual asset industry CEOs on the 30th of next month

Lee Chan-jin, the newly appointed Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, will hold his first roundtable with cryptocurrency exchange CEOs on the 30th of next month. The key agenda is expected to include the introduction of KRW stablecoins and related legislation.
According to the financial industry on the 27th, Governor Lee will meet on the 30th of next month with the CEOs of cryptocurrency exchanges such as Dunamu (Upbit), Bithumb, and Korbit, as well as the Korea Virtual Asset Business Association (DAXA).
This meeting is part of Governor Lee’s series of regular roundtables by industry following his inauguration, and marks the inclusion of the virtual asset sector after previous meetings with traditional financial industries.
Governor Lee is also preparing meetings with the banking sector on the 28th, insurance on the 1st of next month, savings banks on the 4th, securities on the 8th, big tech on the 11th, credit card sector on the 16th, and mutual finance on the 19th.
At the meeting, Governor Lee is expected to discuss the introduction of KRW stablecoins and the legislative progress of virtual asset-related bills with the industry.
A representative from the virtual asset industry commented, “Governor Lee is considered someone who will actively implement the policy direction of the Lee Jae-myung administration, so there are expectations for a forward-looking review of virtual asset policies.”
