Seojun Kim, CEO of the global blockchain venture capital firm Hashed, recently met with Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), and held constructive discussions on building Abu Dhabi's blockchain infrastructure and developing the Web3 developer ecosystem.
At the meeting, Seojun Kim proposed various cooperation measures to foster Abu Dhabi's Web3 ecosystem based on Hashed's global blockchain investment experience and know-how in building developer communities. In particular, concrete measures regarding blockchain talent development, startup incubation programs, and support for global blockchain companies' entry into Abu Dhabi were discussed intensively.
Notably, the two sides also discussed in depth cooperation plans to build a stablecoin ecosystem based on the United Arab Emirates dirham (AED). This was viewed as a strategic discussion aimed at leading digital financial innovation in the Middle East and making Abu Dhabi a key global hub for digital asset trading. Through an AED stablecoin, measures to innovate regional cross-border payment systems and strengthen links between traditional finance and digital assets were examined.
The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on ways to leverage Abu Dhabi's strategic geographic location to create a base for a global blockchain ecosystem connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Through this, they agreed to establish a foundation that would enable Abu Dhabi to position itself not just as an investment destination but as a center for real technological innovation and talent development.
Undersecretary Al Mazrouei expressed the government's strong commitment to helping Abu Dhabi emerge as the Middle East's blockchain hub, and said the government plans to build innovative blockchain infrastructure and nurture next-generation Web3 developers through cooperation with global investors like Hashed.
Seojun Kim said, "I was very impressed by the Abu Dhabi government's vision and drive for blockchain technology," and added, "We will actively support Abu Dhabi's growth into a bona fide Web3 hub through Hashed's global network and experience."
