Tokenizing films, music, etc. to attract investment

A plan is underway to build a new security token offering (STO) exchange centered on domestic content intellectual property (IP). The plan is to tokenize content IP so that global fans can directly participate in funding, and production companies can secure investment funds in advance by establishing a new model.

Blockchain platform Story and unlisted trading platform SeoulTrade signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 23rd to jointly establish an STO and real-world asset token (RWA) exchange targeting content IP. A SeoulTrade official said, "If we open opportunities for global investors to invest in Korean IP such as music, webtoons, novels, films, and games, the Hallyu content and financial industry ecosystem will change." RWA is a digital asset that allows real-world assets to be issued and traded in token form. Global financial circles are also paying attention to real-world asset tokenization as the next-generation growth engine.

SeoulTrade and Story plan to develop new real-asset-based token business models to activate investment in Korean cultural IP. They will prioritize reviewing investments in domestic content companies in Singapore and, if a won-denominated stablecoin is issued later, actively use it for K-content distribution.

Story has already tokenized the music IP of representative K-pop artists such as BTS, BLACKPINK, and BigBang on its own blockchain platform. It is also pursuing the establishment of an investment fund for IP ecosystem innovation with Barunson, the production investor behind films such as 'Parasite' and 'Train to Busan'. Lee Seung-yun, CEO of Story, said, "We will introduce Korean content and IP to global investors."
