A church office manager in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, was apprehended by the police. He confessed the embezzlement of about 500 million won in donations during confession and was caught.

The Mokpo police said on the 24th that they had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A on charges of embezzlement in the course of his duties. Mr. A is accused of diverting about 500 million won in donations on more than ten occasions from July last year to recently.

Mr. A recently belatedly confessed to a priest, and the police launched an investigation after the parish filed a complaint.

A, who was the finance officer, is alleged to have made it appear that the construction fund collected for church construction had been properly settled and diverted the money to a bank account in an acquaintance's name. In addition, it was found that A invested this money in cryptocurrency coins and lost the entire amount.
