The global stablecoin industry is only in its early stages, and it has been argued that Asia could become the center of this market.
At the '2025 Asia Stablecoin Conference' held in Seoul on the 25th, Alex Lim, LayerZero (ZRO) Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC), said in a keynote, "Stablecoins are a money technology that surpasses all existing financial systems," and added, "With infrastructure and regulatory innovation, full-scale global adoption will begin."
Lim emphasized that the pace of stablecoin infrastructure development is currently very fast. He said, "Through LayerZero, assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars could be moved in just a few minutes for only 59 cents," and added, "This kind of innovation exists nowhere else in the world. The stablecoin market will expand further." He continued, "Regulatory frameworks are being established in major economic regions such as Asia, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and stablecoin adoption is increasing," and "South Korea is also seeing greater interest from the government and regulators than in the past."
He particularly predicted that Asia would become the center of the global stablecoin market. Lim said, "Asia has more than 10 major developed countries and has different languages, ethnicities, and currencies," explaining, "Stablecoins are an essential element in areas such as cross-border payments and remittances." He added, "Finance, consumption, and remittances via apps have already become part of everyday life in Asia," and "In the future, anyone will be able to use stablecoins easily."
