First emergency meeting after the withdrawal of the organizational reorganization

Lee Eok-yeom, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, and Lee Chan-jin, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, held their first emergency meeting since the withdrawal of the financial authorities' organizational reorganization and reaffirmed their determination to reform financial administration and supervision.
On the 29th, the two agency heads said, "We humbly accept the criticism that we did not meet public expectations," and "To strengthen the public nature and transparency of financial consumer protection functions, we will overhaul financial administration and supervision with a resolve for painful self-reflection."
They presented three directions: strengthening financial consumer protection functions, shifting to field- and consumer-centered work methods, and enhancing the public nature and transparency of administrative and supervisory processes.
As part of this, both agencies decided to pursue organizational, functional, personnel, and work restructuring to strengthen consumer protection.
They also stated they will strictly supervise hacking incidents and improper sales while actively promoting national tasks for consumer protection.
To protect financial consumers, they will improve the public nature and transparency of agency operations and reexamine the entire process of financial administration and supervision to pursue institutional improvements based on law and principles.
Chairman Lee and Governor Lee emphasized, "The FSC and the FSS will act as a 'one team' and do their utmost to restore public trust."
They also said they will concentrate efforts on minimizing consumer inconvenience caused by the fire at the National Information Resources Service.
