At the meeting, the president is expected to seek advice on Korea's 'AI transition' (AX) strategy and to ask OpenAI to actively cooperate with domestic companies and invest in Korea.
The president has made 'achieving status as one of the world's top three AI powers' a core national goal and is concentrating on policies to foster the AI industry. Recently, he met Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, in New York and revealed plans to make Korea the 'AI capital' of the Asia-Pacific region.
OpenAI is also seeking cooperation with domestic companies and the government. It recently launched its Korean branch, OpenAI Korea, and is preparing ecosystem integration with strategic partner Kakao. It is also reportedly considering cooperation in the semiconductor and hardware sectors with Samsung Electronics, SK, and others.
