According to the manufacturing PMI report released by the U.S. Institute for Supply Management (ISM) on the 1st (local time), the U.S. September manufacturing PMI was 49.1, surpassing both the expected figure (49) and the prior month (48.7).
ISM conducts a monthly survey of 400 companies across 20 industry sectors to calculate the PMI. If this index is above 50, it indicates more respondents expect expansion in the economy; if it is below 50, more respondents expect contraction.
