Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yoon-cheol held an Economic Ministers' Meeting on the 2nd and said he would prioritize managing grocery basket prices. From the end of this month, the nationwide consumer promotion event 'Korea Grand Festival' will be held, and discounts for kimchi ingredients will also be supported.

On the day, Deputy Prime Minister Koo said at the Government Complex Seoul, "We will do our utmost to ensure a Chuseok without price worries," and "We will remove obstacles that hinder regional economic revitalization."

To sustain the recovery in consumption, the government will hold the national-level discount event Korea Grand Festival from the 29th of this month to November 9. The discount rate for local gift certificates, originally 7~15%, will be increased by 5% points by bracket to 12~20% during the event period. Digital Onnuri gift certificates will also provide an additional 15~25% discount effect depending on the region.

A prize event that gives one lottery ticket per 50,000 won of card spending for small business owners and traditional markets will also be carried out on a scale of 2 billion won. Coupons that immediately discount 5,000 won for orders of 20,000 won or more on public delivery apps will also be issued.

Discounts on agricultural, livestock, and marine products will also be supported. From October 23 to December 3, in anticipation of the kimchi-making season, kimchi-making season items will be discounted by up to 40%. November 1 has been designated 'Korea Hanwoo Eating Day' and sirloin and other cuts will be sold at prices up to 50% cheaper.

In addition, year-round lowest-price discounts from the five domestic automakers, purchase rebates for top-efficiency and high-efficiency home appliances, and the largest-ever e-commerce discount sales will be carried out.

Deputy Prime Minister Koo said, "We will take preemptive measures for the kimchi-making season by thoroughly managing crop conditions for napa cabbage, radish, and others, and will complete Chuseok livelihood measures such as supply and discount support for staple items and Onnuri gift certificate refunds for traditional markets without fail," and "We will expand the consumption recovery momentum revived by the first and second rounds of consumer coupons."
