A claim has been made that all currencies will become stablecoins by 2030.

On the 3rd (local time), according to Cointelegraph, Reeve Collins, co-founder of Tether, said in remarks at Token2049, "By 2030, all forms of currency — the dollar, the euro, the yen, and so on — will be converted into stablecoins," and predicted, "Within the next five years they will become the basic means of sending money."

He particularly assessed that this year the US government’s crypto-friendly policies have become a decisive turning point for the market. Collins said, "Until now, traditional financial conglomerates hesitated to enter because of regulatory risk, but the situation is different now," and emphasized, "Now every major institution and bank is exploring issuing its own stablecoin. The dam has already been broken."

He also said that the transparency and efficiency provided by tokenized assets are far superior to traditional assets, explaining, "Even the same asset, when moved onto a blockchain, gains greater utility and even increases potential returns. This is why the tokenization narrative is gaining strength."

However, he pointed out that if global finance becomes fully on-chain, new risks such as smart contracts, bridges, and wallet security will follow. He said, "Problems like hacking and social engineering still remain, but security levels are gradually improving," adding, "There will be more options to handle the technology directly or to entrust it to third parties like banks."
