He claimed "(the shutdown) was started by the Democrats," saying "They have nothing to lose because they were overwhelmingly defeated in the presidential election."
He went on to accuse the Democrats of deliberately prolonging the shutdown for political calculations, adding "We need cooperation to run the country."
