U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said in an interview with Fox News on the 12th (local time) that "President Trump is prepared to enter into reasonable negotiations over issues with China." Vance said, "I discussed China-related issues with President Trump yesterday," adding that "President Trump values his friendly relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping." He went on to say, "President Trump hopes for a situation in which the United States does not need to use pressure measures against China," and "He is keeping all options open, including the removal of Chinese companies from the U.S. market." Vance also said, "If China responds negatively, President Trump has a range of response options," and "China's response will become apparent within the next few weeks."
