A report was received in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, that a family member who had departed for Cambodia appears to have been kidnapped and detained, and the police have launched an investigation.

According to Yonhap News Agency on the 14th, on the 9th the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station received a report saying, "My son seems to be detained at a location in Cambodia."

The 20-something A, reported as being kidnapped and detained, is said to have called his family directly after departing for Cambodia on the 1st and said, "I'm being kidnapped right now, so send 20,000 Tether coins (approximately 30 million won)." The reason he departed for Cambodia has not yet been confirmed.

The police are confirming A's whereabouts, location, and safety through the Cambodian embassy and other channels.
