U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on the 15th (local time), "We are in the process of finalizing trade negotiations with South Korea."
In an interview with CNBC on the 15th (local time), Treasury Secretary Bessent, when asked about 'the trade negotiation currently receiving the most focus,' replied, "I think we are in the process of finishing with South Korea."
When asked whether there were disagreements over South Korea's investment in the United States, he said, "The devil is in the details, but we are resolving the details."
He also asserted, "Even if the U.S. stock market falls, we will not change our stance on trade negotiations with China."
He said, "President Donald Trump likes the stock market to move actively," but added, "We will not change our stance on trade negotiations with China, compromise, or be reluctant to take strong measures against China simply because the stock market falls."
He said, "We will negotiate what is economically best for the United States."
