Japanese financial group SBI Holdings invested $200 million in Evernorth, a virtual asset (cryptocurrency) venture that receives strategic support from Ripple.
According to cryptocurrency-focused media U.Today on the 21st (local time), Evernorth plans to strategically stockpile XRP through financing totaling $1 billion. In this process, the SBI Group participated as a major investor by contributing $200 million in cash.
SBI Holdings, a long-time partner of Ripple, has been continuously working to expand RippleNet payment infrastructure in Japan and support the XRP ecosystem. This investment is interpreted as a strategic move to increase the utilization of digital assets in the Asia region through strengthened cooperation between the two companies.
