"DeFi emerges as an alternative to traditional finance… Tokenized asset market cap to surge"

An analysis found that, thanks to the growth of the DeFi industry, the market capitalization of tokenized assets will grow to $2 trillion (about 2,870 trillion won) within the next three years.

On the 30th (local time), according to CoinDesk, global investment bank (IB) Standard Chartered (SC) said in a report that "the market capitalization of tokenized assets will increase from $35 billion currently to $2 trillion by the end of 2028." Standard Chartered analyzed that "tokenized money market funds (MMFs) and listed equities could each account for about $750 billion," adding that "the remainder would be taken up by private equity, commodities, real estate, etc."

What Standard Chartered highlighted was the growth of the DeFi industry. Standard Chartered said, "This year's stablecoin boom has rapidly shifted DeFi from a crypto-based industry to the mainstream financial industry," and added, "(DeFi) is emerging as a strong alternative to traditional finance that relies on centralized systems." It added, "The liquidity and growth of DeFi banking are laying the groundwork for explosive growth of tokenized real-world assets (RWA)."
