EigenCloud, SharpLink to pursue $200 million Ethereum restaking

EigenCloud said on the 3rd that it is pursuing an Ethereum restaking cooperation with Nasdaq-listed SharpLink Gaming.

SharpLink plans to deploy up to $200 million (about KRW 285,380,000,000) of Ethereum on Ethereum Layer 2 Linea in cooperation with EtherFi and Anchorage Digital. It plans to perform the restaking through EigenCloud's infrastructure, which is a method of applying additional rules to existing staked assets to enhance security and profitability.

SharpLink, a company that has been pursuing an Ethereum-centered Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) strategy, said that through this collaboration it will expand various on-chain activities under institutional-grade custody and risk management systems. Through this, it plans to go beyond simple asset holding and fully operationalize an on-chain operating model based on restaking.

EigenCloud is a cloud service based on EigenLayer technology developed by Eigen Labs. EigenLayer applies Actively Validated Services (AVS) per service using staked Ethereum as collateral to automate validation and rewards. Under the structure, rewards are paid when rules are followed, and collateral is forfeited (slashing) in case of violations.

Sreeram Kannan, CEO of Eigen Labs, said, "The Ethereum ecosystem is evolving into a protocol-centric model that reduces reliance on third parties, and this is expanding to financial infrastructure and verifiable AI applications." He emphasized, "SharpLink's participation shows a new trend of institutional capital combining with trustworthy on-chain infrastructure."
