Harvard University significantly increased the proportion of Bitcoin (BTC) in its holdings in the third quarter.

On the 8th (local time), Matt Hougan, chief investment officer (CIO) of Bitwise, said on X, "Harvard increased its Bitcoin investment in Q3 from 117 million dollars to 443 million dollars." During the same period, investment in gold exchange-traded funds (ETF) also rose from 102 million dollars to 235 million dollars, but the scale of the Bitcoin investment appeared about twice as large.

CIO Hougan explained, "Harvard is adjusting its asset allocation to prepare for the possibility of a material decline in currency value, and in that process is choosing Bitcoin with a 2:1 weighting versus gold." He said the move by major university endowments is meaningful in that it reflects the investment tendencies of long-term institutional capital.
