Coinbase "Integrates with the Solana ecosystem… launches On-chain Trading feature" [Breakpoint 2025]

Coinbase has begun deepening its integration with the Solana (SOL) ecosystem and unveiled an on-chain-based trading feature.

On the 11th (local time), at 'Breakpoint 2025' held at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, Coinbase unveiled the 'On-chain Trading' feature that allows new tokens emerging on the Solana network to be traded immediately without a separate listing process.

About the feature, Andrew Allen (Andrew Allen), Coinbase's Solana product lead, said, "The goal is to make the millions of new assets created on-chain immediately accessible to all users," adding, "Users can trade the millions of tokens created on-chain on Coinbase immediately, and issuers can also access a global user base immediately without a separate listing."

The demo was conducted by Sabs Sachdeva (Sabs Sachdeva), a Coinbase software engineer. The demonstrated interface preserves Coinbase's familiar trading screen while being designed to perform core processing logic such as actual order execution·routing·slippage management on the Solana blockchain. Engineer Sachdeva said, "On the surface it looks the same as existing centralized trading, but on the backend all functions operate on-chain."

Coinbase also introduced an improved user interface (UI) that includes Solana-asset-only filters and on-chain position·transaction viewing features. Users can view existing holdings like Bitcoin (BTC)·Ethereum (ETH) and Solana on-chain assets on a single screen, and all trades execute instantly with a single click. Coinbase emphasized, "The goal is to maintain a familiar experience for users while combining the speed and scalability of on-chain."

The future roadmap includes expanding Solana-based on-chain trading features, strengthening integration with its own DEX, and expanding support for the developer ecosystem. Allen, the lead, said, "We will begin early access to the new feature next week, and together with the Solana community we will set a new standard for on-chain financial experiences."
