U.S. online brokerage Interactive Brokers will begin supporting deposits of stablecoins (virtual assets pegged to fiat currency).
On the 12th (Korea time), according to Bloomberg, Interactive Brokers said it will gradually roll out the ability for certain eligible U.S. customers to deposit stablecoins into individual brokerage accounts.
Under this measure, investors will be able to fund their accounts directly from virtual asset (cryptocurrency) wallets without going through a bank account.
The plan was first disclosed by Thomas Peterffy, chairman of Interactive Brokers, at the Goldman Sachs Financial Services Conference.
