Bitmain, a treasury company accumulating Ethereum as a strategic asset, has reached a milestone by exceeding 4 million Ethereum (ETH) in holdings.
On the 23rd (local time), Cointelegraph reported that Bitmain said its Ethereum holdings exceeded a total of 4.06 million that day. According to on-chain analysis account LookonChain, Bitmain additionally purchased 13,412 Ethereum worth about 40.6 million dollars that day.
With this purchase, the amount of Ethereum Bitmain acquired over the past week reached about 98,852. The company explained that it purchased Ethereum at an average of 2,991 dollars each.
Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmain, said, "The Ethereum holdings surpassed 4 million in five and a half months," and added, "This is a very important milestone that reflects strong conviction in Ethereum and the broader ecosystem."
Bitmain aims to hold 5% of the total Ethereum supply in the long term. It currently holds Ethereum worth about 12.2 billion dollars at market value, and it is estimated to have reached about 67% of its goal.
