Solana (SOL) was selected as the blockchain that processed the most on-chain transactions during 2025.

On the 2nd (KST), crypto media Cointelegraph, citing Nansen's data, reported that Solana processed 23,010,000,000 transactions over the past year, making it the blockchain that handled the most on-chain transactions.

Following were BNB Chain (3,890,000,000), Base (3,290,000,000), TRON (3,220,000,000), and NEAR Protocol (1,890,000,000).

Their common features are low fees and high processing speeds. Nansen analyzed that "despite increased institutional investment, trading volume was still led by use cases centered on individual investors, and usage concentrated on networks offering fast processing speeds and low costs."

The popularity factors of these blockchains differed. For Solana, trading volume surged thanks to increased decentralized exchange (DEX) trading and a meme coin craze. BNB Chain and Base were each analyzed to have had trading activity decisively driven by ecosystem expansion and user inflows based on their parent major exchanges.

TRON (TRX) saw transaction volume rise as its role as a payment infrastructure for stablecoins (crypto assets pegged to fiat currencies) became prominent. In fact, on the TRON network, a significant share of dollar-pegged stablecoins in circulation are issued and circulated. NEAR Protocol (NEAR) was assessed to have expanded on-chain activity due to user growth and service integrations that strengthened privacy features.
