Institutional investors are buying Bitcoin (BTC) at a pace far exceeding the mining rate.

On the 17th (Korea time), digital-asset outlet BlockNews, citing Bitwise data, reported that institutional investors have purchased 30,032 Bitcoins so far in 2026—six times the number of Bitcoins mined over the same period (5,747).

In particular, the analysis says buying interest has concentrated in spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). BlockNews noted, "As the introduction of ETFs has significantly improved access for institutional capital, Bitcoin is being re-rated as a long-term strategic asset rather than a short-term speculative one."

As of 4:30 p.m. today, Bitcoin is trading at $95,102, down 0.36% from the previous day.
