Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is set to introduce a feature that will allow users to trade virtual assets (cryptocurrencies) directly from their timelines.
On the 14th (Korea time), Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, said on X, “We plan to launch several features, including Smart Cashtags, within the next few weeks,” adding that “this will enable users to trade stocks and virtual assets directly from the timeline.”
Smart Cashtags are an expanded version of the existing Cashtags function on X that displays stock symbols or crypto tickers, and are expected to be linked to trading capabilities going forward.
However, Bier also voiced caution about the risk of spam spreading through the use of virtual assets. He noted, “Crypto-related applications must not operate in a way that undermines the platform user experience.”
