Chinese authorities strongly pushed back against the United States’ launch of an investigation under Section 301 of its trade law.
On the 13th (Korea time), China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on its official website, “We are aware that the United States has initiated a Section 301 investigation into 16 economic entities, including China, on the grounds of so-called ‘excess capacity’,” adding, “A Section 301 investigation is a typical act of unilateralism and seriously undermines the international economic and trade order.”
It added that the World Trade Organization (WTO) has already ruled that tariff measures based on Section 301 investigations violate WTO rules.
