[Breaking] Yemen’s Houthis: “Carried out first military operation against Israel”

According to Al Jazeera on the 28th (Korea time), Houthi rebel spokesperson Yahya Saree said, “We carried out the first military attack against Israel.”

Specifically, the Houthis claimed they fired multiple ballistic missiles at military facilities in the southern part of the West Bank, which Israel occupies.

Earlier, the Israeli military announced that in the early hours Yemen’s Houthi rebels had launched a missile toward Israel.

The Houthi spokesperson stressed that “this attack was in response to civilian deaths and attacks on infrastructure in Lebanon, Iran, Iraq and Palestine,” adding that it “will continue until the declared objectives are achieved and attacks on all resistance fronts are halted.”

There is growing speculation that if Yemen’s Houthi rebels join the fighting, sea lanes could be blocked not only at the Strait of Hormuz, controlled by Iran, but also along routes through the Red Sea.
