Decentralized email project Dmail Network (DMAIL) has officially announced it will discontinue its service.
On the 3rd (Korea time), Dmail said in a notice that it "plans to gradually suspend all services starting May 15," adding that "after prolonged review and discussions around a strategic pivot, it ultimately decided to cease operations."
Dmail is a project that has been in operation for about five years. However, the decision is seen as driven by constraints stemming from recently rising infrastructure costs and the absence of a business model. The project said that "the costs of decentralized infrastructure—bandwidth, storage, computing, and more—were excessively high, making sustainable operations difficult," and that it "failed to find a clear revenue model under which users would pay."
Dmail also warned that "after May 15, operation of all nodes will stop, making email access impossible," and urged users to back up their data before the deadline.
