Ethereum Korea Consortium to Hold 'EK1' Event in Seoul on May 16

The Ethereum Korea Consortium said on May 7 that it will host Ethereum Korea One, or EK1, on May 16 at DSRV's headquarters in Seoul's Gangnam district.

The event will serve as a forum to discuss the vision for South Korea's Ethereum ecosystem and directions for cooperation.

The program will look at Ethereum from two perspectives: infrastructure and assets. Participants from the Ethereum Foundation and Layer 2 projects including Arbitrum and Optimism will discuss technology priorities and ways to work with South Korea. Domestic financial institutions and policy officials will also attend to discuss digital-asset use and approaches to bringing it into the institutional fold.

The Ethereum Korea Consortium was formed after Nonce Classic was selected in the first quarter of this year for the Ethereum Foundation's official support initiative, the Ecosystem Support Program.

Consortium members include Nonce Classic, The Ticker Is Ether, Kryptoplanet, Four Pillars, DSRV, Undefinde Labs, Nodeinfra, Radius, Wavebridge and Sunnyside Labs.

Kang Yu-bin, chief executive officer of Nonce Classic, said EK1 would be a starting point for South Korea to become a substantive contributor to the Ethereum ecosystem, rather than simply another event. The consortium plans to build a practical cooperation framework that directly connects domestic builders, institutions and communities with the global ecosystem, he added, allowing them to continue making technical contributions and producing public goods.
