A two-week truce between the US and Iran has lifted sentiment in the cryptocurrency market, though further gains may be limited, analysts said.

The Block reported on June 7 that geopolitical tensions eased after President Donald Trump announced a two-week halt to attacks on Iran, according to Nick Ruck, a director at crypto market research firm LVRG Research. Declining oil prices helped fuel a relief rally across risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. Global risk appetite has recovered. Still, unresolved questions over whether the truce will hold and the risk of renewed geopolitical tensions could limit additional gains.

The US and Iran had effectively reached a two-week ceasefire agreement earlier that day. On the news, Bitcoin jumped more than 5% from the previous day and briefly rose above $72,000. As of June 7, Bitcoin was trading in the upper $71,000 range, according to CoinMarketCap.

Still, analysts say the rally needs sustained liquidity inflows to continue. Dominic John, an analyst at Zeus Research, told The Block that broader liquidity expansion, interest-rate cuts and structural inflows into exchange-traded funds are needed for Bitcoin's rebound to develop into a sustained bull market. Rate pressure and the possibility of renewed geopolitical tensions continue to limit upside for cryptocurrencies.

He added that a lasting advance would require abundant liquidity, a stable macroeconomic backdrop and structural capital inflows to support the next leg higher.
