OKX Ventures and HashKey Capital are investing in CAEX, a Vietnam-based cryptocurrency exchange, and will join the company as partners.
Blockhead reported on April 10 that the two firms are participating in an equity investment in CAEX and plan to cooperate on exchange infrastructure, security and regulatory compliance.
The investment also includes VPBankS, the securities unit of VPBank, and technology partner LynkiD. CAEX plans to secure about $380 million in capital this month to meet the requirements for Vietnam’s pilot program for cryptocurrency exchanges.
The firms cited the growth potential of the Vietnamese market and moves to establish a regulatory framework as reasons for the investment. Netero Dai, vice president of global markets at OKX, described Vietnam as a dynamic market with strong user demand and an evolving regulatory framework, adding that the goal is to build a safe and reliable trading environment. Livio Weng, chief executive officer of HashKey Exchange, said the company aims to build market trust through compliance, transparency and sustainability.
