Coinbase has launched a service marketplace built on x402, a payment standard for artificial intelligence agents, as it moves to expand the ecosystem.

Cointelegraph reported on April 21 that Coinbase launched Agentic.market, a marketplace built on the x402 protocol. The platform is designed to let AI agents access a range of services and applications and make payments.

Nick Prince, Coinbase’s head of product, said the goal is to enable users and AI agents to access thousands of services without API keys. He described the platform as a storefront where users can discover, compare and use services built on x402.

The platform includes services such as CoinGecko, Google Flights and X, formerly known as Twitter. AI agents can expand their capabilities through those services. Until now, users of AI agents have relied on fragmented information and word of mouth to discover services, highlighting the need for a unified platform.

Coinbase unveiled the x402 protocol in May 2025. The technology uses stablecoins to support payments by AI agents across the internet. Interest in the technology has grown as AI rapidly expands into commerce.

Agentic.market offers both a web interface for people to browse services directly and a programming layer that allows AI agents to search for, select and integrate services on their own. It is designed to let agents expand their capabilities without additional human intervention.

The platform also provides code-based "skills" that show agents how to use services, along with wallet features that support payments and monetization.

Earlier in April, the x402 protocol expanded its ecosystem by launching the x402 Foundation with support from Google, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. Major companies including American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Stripe, Circle, Polygon, the Solana Foundation and Kakao Pay have also expressed interest in participating.

Coinbase Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong said AI agents will soon carry out more online transactions than humans.
