Iran said it is ready to begin talks immediately if the US lifts its naval blockade.
Tasnim News Agency reported on April 22 that Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, said Tehran was prepared to enter negotiations at once if Washington removes the blockade. He added that the US must first stop actions that violate the ceasefire agreement.
The US has continued to take a hard-line stance. President Donald Trump recently said a deal with Iran would be impossible if the strait were reopened. He also said that, in an extreme scenario, no agreement could be reached unless the rest of Iran, including its leadership, was destroyed.
