Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has signaled it may be preparing for another purchase.
Cointelegraph reported on April 26 that Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a chart on X showing the company’s Bitcoin buying history. Similar posts in the past preceded additional purchases, and the market has interpreted the latest one as another buying signal.
Strategy recently bought about 34,164 BTC for more than $2.5 billion, raising its total holdings to about 815,061 BTC. That stash was worth about $63.6 billion at the time.
Its holdings dwarf those of rivals. Among other publicly traded companies pursuing a Bitcoin treasury strategy, Twenty One Capital has the second-largest position at about 43,514 BTC.
Market participants view Strategy as a steady “anchor buyer” that is shaping supply and demand. Some analysts say the company’s buying pace is roughly three times new mining output, fueling concern about a potential supply shock if exchange balances continue to decline.
The company has also been exposed to short-term volatility. Strategy recorded about $14.5 billion in unrealized losses in the first quarter of 2026 after Bitcoin fell from its October 2025 peak of $126,000 to about $60,000 in February 2026.
With Bitcoin now back above $78,000, the token is once again trading above Strategy’s average purchase price of about $75,528.
Future purchases could be funded through securities issued by the company, including STRC, or Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. Some market participants say that could eventually lift Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings above 1 million BTC.
Still, concerns are also emerging over the company’s aggressive funding structure. Continued fundraising could increase financial risks, including a heavier dividend burden.
