Korbit, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, said Monday it is launching a "Welcome Payback" event for new users, offering rewards to first-time signups.

The event runs for about two weeks, from 10 a.m. on April 27 through midnight on May 10. Only users who join Korbit for the first time during the promotion period are eligible.

The offer has two parts. Under the "Welcome Reward" program, users who complete all in-app missions will receive 10,000 won worth of Korean currency, or about $7.20. The reward is paid immediately after each mission is completed and the user clicks the claim button.

The second benefit, called "Trading Payback," is for members who complete buy and sell trades during the event period. Korbit will return 1% of trading value in Tether, or USDT, capped at 30,000 won, or about $21.60, per user. Those rewards will be paid in a lump sum on May 20.

Users can participate in both promotions, allowing those who meet all conditions to receive as much as 40,000 won, or about $29, in total benefits.

A Korbit official said the event was designed to help new users starting out in virtual-asset investing experience trading with less burden. The exchange plans to continue offering services and promotions that provide practical benefits to customers, the official added.
