The US has received a new proposal from Iran through Pakistani mediation, Axios reported.
Citing one US official and two sources, Axios said on April 26 that Washington had been sent a new negotiating proposal from Tehran.
The proposal is structured similarly to Iran’s previously reported “three-stage plan,” first reported by Lebanese outlet Al Mayadeen. It would prioritize ending the war and resolving the Strait of Hormuz issue, while putting nuclear talks on a later track.
According to the sources, Iran presented defusing the Strait of Hormuz crisis and lifting the US maritime blockade as its top priorities. The proposal also includes first reaching either a long-term extension of a ceasefire or an agreement to permanently end the war, followed by nuclear negotiations in a later phase.
The proposal has been delivered to the White House, but it is not yet clear whether the US will accept it or review it.
