Meta Platforms Inc. has introduced a feature allowing some creators to receive earnings in the stablecoin USDC.

The Block reported on April 29 that Meta began offering creators the option to receive settlements in USDC through a support page. Payouts are made to wallets on the Solana (SOL) or Polygon (POL) networks.

Meta said payments may be switched to another method in the event of technical issues or exceptional circumstances. The company also told users they are responsible for account security, including wallet information.

Supported wallets include MetaMask, Phantom and Binance. Payments are processed through Stripe, and Meta provides a separate transaction history for stablecoin payouts.

Meta emphasized that users should use only network addresses that support USDC and that assets sent to unsupported addresses cannot be recovered. It also said recipients can later convert the USDC they receive into local currency.

The move is being interpreted as a sign Meta is accelerating its push into stablecoin-based payments. The company was previously reported to be exploring a stablecoin business with external partners.
