Summary

  • Poseidon, incubated on Story's blockchain infrastructure, launched early access for its data contribution app Numo.
  • Numo lets users provide data for AI training in exchange for rewards, and Poseidon said it collected more than 33,000 hours of audio data during beta testing.
  • Data collected through the app is recorded and licensed on the Story blockchain from the moment it is created to clarify rights ownership, and the project plans to expand into next-generation AI training infrastructure.

Poseidon, a decentralized AI data infrastructure project incubated by AI intellectual property blockchain platform Story, launched early access for its data contribution app Numo on April 30.

Numo is designed to let users submit data for AI training and receive rewards in return. The app allows ordinary users to participate in collecting a range of data, including voice data.

In an earlier beta test, Poseidon collected more than 33,000 hours of audio data across 17 languages over about three weeks, demonstrating the potential of a decentralized data collection model. The release of Numo marks a step toward bringing that model to a broader user base.

Initially, the project will focus on collecting voice data in major languages including Bengali, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Those languages have large user bases but a shortage of high-quality training data, leaving them underrepresented in AI voice systems.

Poseidon plans to expand the number of supported languages and countries over time. It also aims to widen collection to video, image, motion and sensor data as it builds out next-generation AI training infrastructure.

The project is applying a blockchain-based system to manage the entire process from data collection to use. Data gathered through Numo is recorded on the Story blockchain and assigned a license from the moment it is created, a structure designed to clarify data provenance and rights ownership.

"For AI to work properly in the real world, real-world languages, voices and environments need to be sufficiently reflected in the data," said Sandeep Chinchali, Story's chief AI officer and lead scientist on the Poseidon project.

He added that Numo is built to let anyone contribute to AI development and be rewarded for it. By using high-quality data with clearly defined rights, it will help improve the accuracy and reliability of AI models and support the expansion of AI services that can be deployed in real-world settings.
