Sui, a layer-1 blockchain network, plans to roll out a fee-free remittance system this year as it pushes to build a global payments network.

Adeniyi Abiodun, Sui's chief product officer, told The Block that the company wants to make Sui the foundational network for moving money. He said Sui plans to launch fee-free stablecoin transfers and privacy-preserving payment features within the year.

Abiodun said the current banking system has clear limitations. Sending $100 overseas can incur $35 in fees, he said, arguing that Sui can serve as a low-cost, high-efficiency payments alternative.

He also said Sui aims to become the mainnet for artificial intelligence agents. More than 80% of future money flows will be handled by AI agents, Abiodun said, adding that Sui plans to build technical safeguards to address transaction errors and fraud involving agents and become a killer app for an agent-driven economy.
