Iran has reiterated its conditions for ending the war and warned that prolonging negotiations would raise the cost for the US.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament, wrote on X on May 11 that there was no alternative to recognizing the rights of the Iranian people set out in Tehran's 14-point proposal. Any other approach would fail repeatedly without producing results, he added.

The longer negotiations are delayed, the more US taxpayers will ultimately bear the cost, he wrote.

Tasnim News Agency earlier published what it described as Iran's latest proposal to the US, saying it was delivered through Pakistan. The 14-point plan centers on ending the war and includes guarantees against renewed military aggression, a withdrawal of US troops from areas neighboring Iran, lifting the naval blockade, releasing frozen assets, paying war reparations, removing sanctions on Iran, building peace across fronts including Lebanon, and restructuring the management system for the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump said a day earlier that the proposal was "totally unacceptable."
