Nvidia shares rose to a record high after reports that Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang will join President Donald Trump’s trip to China.
Cointelegraph reported on May 13 that Nvidia climbed above $224.15 intraday after news broke that Huang would join Trump’s business delegation to Beijing. The company’s market capitalization also surged to $5.4 trillion.
Trump made a last-minute request for Huang to join the visit, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Huang was not included on the list of business leaders traveling with the president that the White House released earlier this week.
The business delegation to China also includes Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk and Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook, according to the report.
Trump is scheduled to hold a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14 and 15.
