Jump Crypto’s Solana validator client Firedancer has started producing blocks on the mainnet, CoinDesk reported on May 16.

In an interview, Firedancer Chief Engineer Ritchie Patel said the software is now running in a live production environment and has processed tens of millions of transactions over the past few months.

Firedancer is a new validator client built to run the Solana blockchain. The network has faced criticism for its heavy reliance on a single client maintained by Anza, while repeated outages have remained a major concern.

Jump Crypto is rolling out the software in stages. Patel said he does not want all validators to use Firedancer yet because it could be irresponsible for more than half the network to upgrade before security validation is fully complete.

He added that Jump Crypto’s relationship with Anza is closer to cooperation than competition.

The industry views Firedancer as key infrastructure for meeting future institutional trading demand and supporting the expansion of financial services tied to real-world assets.

Patel said the team used to watch network performance metrics nervously during meme-coin or non-fungible token launches, but the network is now at a point where it can respond more reliably even to large project launches.

Firedancer’s architecture is known to draw on the design approach used in high-frequency trading systems in traditional finance.

Patel said the new system was designed to operate like an actual transaction engine in traditional finance.

Jump Crypto has also recently carried out a public security audit supported by a $1 million bug bounty. The market is focused on whether Firedancer’s mainnet rollout will become one of the most significant infrastructure upgrades in Solana’s history.
