a16z Crypto said the CLARITY Act, a bill intended to bring clearer rules to the US digital-asset market, would help spur innovation in the country.

Cointelegraph reported on May 16 that providing developers with regulatory clarity in the US would support domestic innovation, according to a16z Crypto.

a16z Crypto cited the July 2025 passage of the GENIUS Act, which created a regulatory framework for stablecoins, as a sign of what could follow if the CLARITY Act advances. The firm said the GENIUS Act led to unprecedented growth and adoption, benefiting the US economy and the dollar's long-term dominance.

The Senate Banking Committee advanced the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act at a May 14 meeting. All 13 Republicans on the committee voted in favor, along with two Democrats, while nine Democrats opposed the measure.

In a report released on May 17, Grayscale said the bill has a strong chance of passing, though it would still need bipartisan support to clear the full Senate and become law. Republicans currently hold 53 Senate seats, meaning the measure would need support from at least seven Democrats.
