Elon Musk’s SpaceX has chosen Goldman Sachs as the lead underwriter for its initial public offering, CNBC reported.

CNBC reported on May 19 that Goldman was listed in the top spot on the company’s IPO prospectus. Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase are set to serve as co-underwriters.

SpaceX confidentially filed IPO documents with the US Securities and Exchange Commission last month and could make its prospectus public as early as May 21.

The market is focused on whether the deal could rank among the largest IPOs in history. Musk valued the company at about $1.25 trillion in February when he merged artificial intelligence startup xAI with SpaceX.

So far, Meta and Alibaba are among the few technology companies to top a $100 billion market capitalization on their first day of trading in the US. Cerebras, the AI chipmaker that recently listed on the Nasdaq, reached a market value of about $95 billion after its debut.

Bloomberg previously reported that SpaceX is moving ahead with listing plans before major AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Both companies have also been mentioned as possible IPO candidates this year.
