The market for tokenized real-world assets, or RWAs, has surpassed $65 billion.
The Block reported on May 19 that the total market capitalization of RWAs had risen to more than $65 billion from about $45 billion at the start of the year, an increase of roughly 44%.
As the market grows, institutional asset managers are ramping up competition to issue assets on-chain. Industry participants say competition among blockchains to attract institutional business is also intensifying because RWA liquidity tends to remain in place longer than other crypto capital.
Ethereum accounts for about 33% of the overall RWA market, the largest share among blockchains. Its advantages include deep liquidity, smart-contract infrastructure and broad familiarity within traditional finance.
Provenance, the blockchain developed by Figure Technology, follows with about 27% of the market. The expansion of financial services based on Figure Lending is seen as helping drive that gain in share.
Binance's BNB Chain, Ripple's XRP Ledger and Solana each held about 6% of the market. Those networks are also focused on expanding institutional infrastructure and attracting more issuers.
