Dunamu Marks Bitcoin Pizza Day by Supporting Team Korea Athletes

Dunamu, the operator of digital-asset exchange Upbit, said on May 22 that it held a support event for South Korea’s national team athletes to mark Bitcoin Pizza Day.

The company provided pizza and drinks to athletes training at the national training center in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province. The event was held as part of its role as an official partner of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.

Dunamu also handed out a basic financial education booklet designed to improve athletes’ asset management and financial literacy. A photo event and prize giveaway were held on site, with Galaxy Upbit Exclusive items and commemorative goods provided.

Team Korea also held trail running training at the national training center that day ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Upbit presented separate commemorative gifts to the top three male and female trail running athletes.

“The determination shown by the national team athletes as they overcome their personal limits and strengthen their resolve for victory at the Asian Games was impressive,” Kim Taek-soo, head of the national training center, said. He added that, together with sponsors including Upbit, the center would continue to build a stronger training environment so the athletes’ spirit of challenge could shine more brightly.

An Upbit official said the company organized the event to support Team Korea as it prepares for the Asian Games, now four months away. The official added that Upbit would continue to provide various forms of support so athletes can build a stable foundation both on and off the field.

Bitcoin Pizza Day traces its origins to May 22, 2010, when Bitcoin was used to buy pizza in what is regarded as the first real-world transaction involving the token. The industry views the date as a symbol of digital assets’ real-world use.
