President Donald Trump criticized former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler and what he called anti-crypto forces, accusing them of driving the U.S. digital-asset industry overseas.

In a Truth Social post on May 27, Trump wrote that Gensler and the "Anti-Crypto Army" had nearly destroyed the U.S. crypto industry by pushing Bitcoin, perpetual crypto futures and broader innovation industries out of the country.

He added that his leadership had saved the industry and said the U.S. is now the "Crypto Capital of the World," with developers and entrepreneurs returning to the country.

Trump also said he plans to pursue crypto market-structure legislation. He said he would enact future-proof crypto market rules that could not be overturned again by anti-crypto forces.

He added that "the new frontier of finance" is being built in the U.S. and that "TRUMP will NEVER let Crypto down."
