A long-dormant Bitcoin wallet dating back to 2011 moved funds for the first time in about 14 years.

CoinDesk reported on June 6 that the Bitcoin address 1LwWtSs7tMCwcRczQd5kVMv3xpWw6w4Sxe transferred 15 of its 35.55 Bitcoin to a new address on June 2. The remaining 20.55 Bitcoin was sent to a change address.

The wallet had shown no meaningful activity for about 14 years after receiving Bitcoin on March 27, 2011. At the time, Bitcoin was trading below $1.

The address is also drawing attention because of its ties to a major Bitcoin ownership lawsuit pending in New York state court. It is one of 39,069 Bitcoin wallets that the plaintiffs claim had been abandoned for an extended period.

Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Research, identified the address in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, as one of the wallets tied to the lawsuit. "At least this wallet appears not to have been abandoned," he wrote.
